If you want your children to explore the world of the Viking’s and our ancient ancestors look no further!

Archaeology Camps

Our camps provide a new and fascinating alternative to sports-themed camps and other school-break activities for children aged between 7 and 12 years old. If your child is a curious explorer with a thirst for knowledge about their past, why not let them try the School of Irish Archaeology? Our camps are run all year round, and they introduce children to the mysteries and adventures of our past in a fun, practical and hands-on way.

Camp Activities

Clay Pot Making - Hands-on practical workshop allowing the children to create their own pot like the first farmers

Archery School - Become a medieval archer and test your strength, skill and accuracy

Historical Treasure Hunts - Exciting and stimulating adventures at National Monuments like Christchurch Cathedral, Glendalough’s Monastic City and Medieval Trim

Archaeology Excursions - We will visit some of the most interesting site and monuments around the country such as Trim Castle, Bective Abbey, Newgrange, Glendalough and Tara to name a few.

Ancient Crafts & Technologies - Explore Ireland’s olden crafts and technologies like Leatherwork, Coin Striking, Ancient Scriptures, Woodcrafts and much more

Viking House Excavation - Experience being a History Hunter by excavating our Viking House and becoming an archaeologist!

Weaponry & Combat - Learn about the fierce world of the Viking and Medieval times through our specialised interactive workshops

Post & Wattle Fence Making - Children learn one of the earliest prehistoric crafts and forms of architecture in the world!

Archaeology Games - Fun, friendly & exhilarating team games where children participate in groups to outwit their opponents

Shield & Sword Design - Don’t go home empty handed. Our creative and fun design workshop finds the warrior within you!
