Rumleys Open Farm provides a great location for many different occasions from birthdays to school tours and an excellent day out for all the family. The farm has a wide range of activities for children of all ages and has many exotic and domestic animals.
Visit the ponds and the Lemur climbing enclosure. Say hello to the rabbits in the Rabbit Village. We have nearly 2km of walk ways to explore and meet the animals whilst enjoying panoramic views of both Cork city and the surrounding country side.

Whatever the Irish weather we have large indoor and outdoor play and picnic areas. All our areas are wheelchair accessible. Enjoy our unique educational experience to see how food is produced directly on our farm. Our produce can be purchased and sampled in our farm café. Thank you very much for your support and we hope you enjoy your visit.

It has been a dream of mine for many years to bring children onto my farm and give them a chance to see how food is produced from vegetables, eggs, chicken to the various different types of meat.

I strongly believe if you show children how real natural food is grown it is something that will stay with them forever.
With this philosophy in mind I have developed 3 programs that will appeal to both younger and older children where they not only get to play with the animals but to see how a working farm is run. It is also a program where teachers will learn a lot too and be able to bring some real experiences and exercises back to the class room.
Our 3 programs are as follows:
Junior Infants to 1st Class
Day Plan
- Visit the Pet Farm where the children can get to hold and feed the animals
- Guided Tractor Tour of the Farm tailored to younger children
- See a cow being milked
- Hold our day old chicks
- Lunch
- The Fun Bit – Access to all the indoor and outdoor activities available on the farm
2nd to 4th Class
Day Plan
- 2 hour Guided Farm Tour explaining how the farm works for domestic and exotic animals
- The Working Farm The children will learn about where the food chain begins and ends.
- Exercise A worksheet will be provided for use as a project back in the classroom
- Lunch
- Opportunity to play in our activity centre and meet the animals in our Pet Farm
5th and 6th Class
Day Plan
- 2 hour Guided Farm Tour introducing the exotic animals and explaining how the farm works for domestic and exotic animals
- The Working Farm The children will learn about where the food chain begins and ends.
- Exercise – From Farm to Fork – Where our food comes from
- Lunch
- Opportunity to play in our activity centre and meet the animals in our Pet Farm
